Within 90 minutes of the airport 18 world-class ski, board and cross-country stand at the ready. Annually the resorts offer national championships and demos, as well as special events such as the annual celebration of Elvis’ birthday at Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe—definitely a must see. |

Lake Tahoe is North America’s largest alpine lake, and the water in it could cover a flat area the size of California by 14 inches. It is 99.9 percent pure offering visibility to 75 feet below the surface. In addition to Tahoe, water enthusiasts can take to boats, skis, wakeboards, kayaks, catamarans, wind surfers and sail boats at any number of desert and alpine lakes including Pyramid Lake, the second largest lake in the region. |
